What Happens to Your Donations

What do we do with the donations we receive?

They are processed at the Donation Centers where the unsaleable items are separated from the saleable items. The unsaleable items are sold for salvage and saleable items are then classified and moved to the sales floors. After four weeks, all merchandise that has not been sold is sent to the Clearance Centers and sold by the pound. Items that do not sell in the Clearance Centers are baled, sold for salvage and shipped to Third World Countries.

What do we do with the money we make from the donated goods?

Each year, a minimum of ¾ of one million dollars of the money made from donated goods is used to help support our mission of  rehabilitation, training and employing people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. All of our rehabilitation services such as evaluation, training, and job placement are free to our program participants.

The Salvage Program

Each week Gulfstream Goodwill Industries saves thousands of pounds of materials from entering landfills through recycling. Our recycling program includes glass, metal, ceramics, books and of course clothing. All of these materials are sold to salvage dealers around the globe. Not only does our salvage program help the environment it also allows us to maximize every valuable donation we receive.
